A high-level meeting and a study tour were organized for young women from Kazakhstan and online participants from Tajikistan to promote the participation of women in the renewable energy sector in Central Asia. Kazakhstani Vice-Minister of Energy Zhanat Zhakhmetova, European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala, German Ambassador to Kazakhstan Monika Iversen, Italian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Marco Alberti, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Poland to Kazakhstan Tomasz Kollat, Tajikistan Attaché in Kazakhstan - Gulbonui Fazliddin, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan - Volker Frohart, Deputy Coordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities in Vienna - Ralf Ernst, as well as national and international experts in the field of energy took part in the event.
Students and experts from Kazakhstan and Tajikistan discussed what role the international community can play in facilitating the transition to renewable energy in Central Asia and what opportunities it can provide to empower women in this sector. OSCE representatives described opportunities for promoting women's economic participation in the Central Asian energy sector for energy security and sustainable development.
DKU representatives provided general information on educational opportunities, such as "Strategic Management of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency" Master's program, which is open to all applicants from Central Asia.

In addition, participants learned from female and male experts about their experiences in overcoming barriers to career advancement and academic research. They also shared their stories as women studying or working in the energy sector and emphasized the importance of education and support.
After the discussion, participants went on a study tour of the NURIS Polygon of renewable sources of energy at Nazarbayev University. The polygon presents innovations in renewable energy and energy efficiency for young people and everyone interested in the field. The participants saw how photovoltaic panels, solar collectors, hybrid wind generators, and ground-source heat pump work, and also visited the energy-efficient Shell Yurt, a house with an autonomous energy supply based on renewable energy sources. In addition, they visited Technopark and its laboratories in green technology, information technology, and machine shop.
