The training for civil servants of the Republic of Kazakhstan was conducted by the Kazakh-German University with the support of the USAID Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity.

The training was attended by 21 people representing the state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan (61.5% of all participants), the academic sector (25%), regional and international organizations (13.5%).

The training was held for 2 days - April 28 and 29, 2022 in accordance with the Program. The program included theoretical and practical blocks. As part of the practical block, a business game was conducted to evaluate NEXUS based on Case Study No. 5.

The first day of the event, April 28, was devoted to introducing the theoretical material and considering examples of the NEXUS approach, the importance of taking into account the interconnections in the water, energy and food sectors, as well as explaining the methodology. At the end of the first day, all participants received handouts for self-study and instruction for preparation for the second day of the training.

The second day, April 29, consisted of group work on Case Study No. 5. Depending on the objectives of each module presented in the case study, the participants were divided into small groups and discussed possible ways of sustainable developing the model region.

At the end of the training, all participants were received certificates of attendance.
