“NEXUS assessment: water-energy-food-ecosystems interaction” training for civil servants took place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on February 08-9, 2022.

The training was organized by the Kazakh-German University and supported by the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project.

With the support of the regional office of CAREC, the organizers obtained permission to hold interdepartmental consultations for civil servants of Turkmenistan (ToT in Ashgabat). Representatives of the following ministries and departments of Turkmenistan participated in the ToT:

• Ministry of Agriculture and Nature Protection of Turkmenistan, including Turkmengidromet Service.
• State Committee of Water Management of Turkmenistan.
• Sanitary-Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry.
• The Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan.
• Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan.
• Ministry of Finance and Economics of Turkmenistan.
• The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
• The Emergency Situations Department of the Ministry of Defence of Turkmenistan.
• The Methodological Department of the Academy of State Service under the President of Turkmenistan.
• The Mayor's Office of Ashgabat.
• Representatives of mass media (Turkmenportal, Ashgabat in).

There were 27 participants: representatives of ministries and environmental NGOs of Turkmenistan. The group work on nexus assessment was held, taking into account natural resources and their sustainability in downstream and upstream countries was carried out to explore approaches to sustainable development in a changing climate.
