The Kazakh-German University (DKU) in cooperation with Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Germany) is pleased to announce a specialized three-day training program for Master’s and PhD students, focused on improving academic presentation and communication skills in international research environments.
This intensive and practical training is part of a broader initiative to strengthen the capacity of early-career researchers in Central Asia and support their integration into global scientific networks.

💡 What You Will Learn:
🗣 Module 1: Science Pitch – Explaining Research in 3 Minutes
Learn how to present your research clearly, concisely, and persuasively in under 3 minutes. Gain storytelling tools and pitching strategies to spark interest in your topic at poster sessions and during networking.
🎤 Module 2: Giving Talks and Presentations that Make an Impact
Master the art of impactful academic presentations. Improve your slides, build confidence, refine your delivery, and use body language and voice effectively.
🔍 Module 3: Discussing Your Research
Learn how to navigate and contribute to scientific discussions—after a talk, during poster sessions, or in one-on-one exchanges. Strengthen your argumentation and communication strategies.
🇩🇪 Module 4: Info Session – Research Opportunities in Germany
Led by Dr. Christiane Wüllner, this session offers insights into Germany’s research landscape, career pathways from PhD to professorship, and available funding and mobility programs.
👤 Trainer:
Dr. John Kluempers
A native English speaker and linguist with a PhD, Dr. Kluempers has taught in Japan and Germany, and spent a decade as a broadcaster for Deutsche Welle. He specializes in professional and scientific English and is an active member of Toastmasters International.
