From February 27 to March 3, a 5-day training on the "Clean Energy Transition course" training took place at the Kazakh-German University (DKU).

Out of more than 100 interested applicants, 38 participants took part offline. Among them were undergraduate, master's and PhD students from the fields of energy, renewable energy, ecology, law, environmental protection and water management, as well as lecturers from universities in Kazakhstan. In addition, the training was attended by representatives of specialized organizations, think tanks and environmental NGOs. More than 30 participants joined online.

This training was conducted by foreign (associate professor of energy and environmental safety at GWU) and local professors from DKU, AUES, Satbayev University and KBTU in the field of renewable energy, natural resource management, ecology and energy efficiency, as well as by invited speakers and independent experts from the USAID project "Energy for Central Asia", UN Development Program, Global Environment Facility and the Government of Kazakhstan and the Association of RES "Qazaq Green".

The event included site visits to universities to learn about research laboratories at AUES, Satbayev University and KBTU in the field of green energy, renewable energy sources, green technologies and ecology. And interactive exercises energized and motivated the trainees.

According to the results of the training, 75% of participants noted in a survey that the theme of the event was well covered, 72.5% gained new knowledge and 80% confirmed that the knowledge and skills will be useful in practice.

As a result of this training DKU and a group of experts will complete the syllabus of the "Course on the transition to Clean Energy" for Kazakhstani universities, as part of a project supported by the U.S. Mission to Kazakhstan.
